We were originally discovered and settled as an English convict colony. I cant feel those chains any longer can you? Then why do remain true to the queen? We are Australians, we have our own country, we made it what it is today and by right I think we should separate from the monarchy as it has no purpose in England let alone Australia. We can still hold our values of memories past without being a commonwealth country, the diggers wont lose what they fought for, in fact I think they would gain some pride as they would have fought for OUR own country to survive, not because our “parent” country told us to. I’m as Australian as a white person can be, I had relatives out on the first fleet (despite them being in chains) and I think as a country we should become more active in our personal history. I remember going through school and learning about America this, or enlgand that, I am so outraged that still as my young cousins go through school they have learnt next to nothing about things that have made Australia truly Australian; such as; Ned Kelly, Eureka Stockade, all the diggers and Anzacs, Simpson and his donkey, our past prime ministers, Banjo Patterson, Henry Lawson, I can go on like this.

Why is it that having politicians say they love this land not do anything to promote our country with in our schools? I have in much of my spare time read up on many of these topics as I feel by missing out on these in school I missed out on a unique Australian experience – why should we learn about the monarchy or American history, that doesn’t define us as a culture. We should learn about Australian ideals and stories. That at least would instill some much needed pride into the youth of this country and perhaps halt the Americanisation of our beloved land.

Well i have just discovered this update thingy here at TIG so i thought "meh, might as well give it a go". well i joined TIG a couple of months ago, got stuck into the whole bush bashing scene, enjoyed that quite a bit, but being such a true blue aussie (hate using the word patriot, as i relate that word to red necked gun toting americans) i decied to abandon those threads and focus on the australian pages only to find a complete lack of interest. so i started a few threads, and thanks to JessG, Haylez and netdude some of my threads have stayed alive.

I love australia and being australian, typically though everything "aussie" originated in the rural areas as the city folk in this country have the heads so far up their own arses (generally speaking) they wouldn't know australian values if they were bitten on the bum by them.

to any non australians visiting my profile or my updates feel free to ask me to clarify any questions, queries or preconceptions about anything australia - australians welcome to ask as well. i have decided to spread the australian way of life in a similar way to americans promoting their way of life, but without the guns, lies, propaganda and red tape. not to mention if you do not want my australia values i will happily smile and so "no worries mate" instead of the well known america in your face style which i am sure iraq are happy with.

although "hakuna matata" was coined by the lion king movie (it means no worries for the rest of your days, its a problem free - philsophy) we aussies had that down pat decades ago.
